Firework retailers are required to pass an examination on theories and techniques on how to prevent firework explosion accidents before they are permitted to sell the light explosives.
China Times reports the exam also includes first aid knowledge when firework explosion accidents happen.
Laws and regulations, basic knowledge and skills on firework safety management, as well as new skills and regulations in using fireworks are involved.
Examinees are also required to write analyses on the causes of fireworks explosion accidents.
The report also says examinees should be under 60 years of age and be in good health.
The examinations will last from December 10 to January 13 and be held in Beijing districts and counties.
Examinees can inquire their scores on websites including www.bjsafety.org.cn three working days after the exam. Those who pass can obtain their certificates at the work safety bureaus of their respective districts or counties 10 working days after the exam.
For security and environmental protection, Beijing had banned fireworks for 12 years during China's Lunar New Year. Beijing lifted the ban last year and no severe accidents were reported.
The end of the ban has resulted in a rise in the illegal transportation, storage and sales of firecrackers, said officials in charge of fireworks management under the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security.
The inflow of illegal fireworks from surrounding provinces, especially Hebei, has had a severe impact on the city's administration of fireworks, police officials said. |
