China Modern History to Be Compulsory Subject
[ 作者:  加入时间:2007-01-15 17:43:17  来自: ]
With the arrival of the coming spring semester, Chinese modern history will become a compulsory subject for all college freshmen in China.

As history is not tested in the college entrance examination for technology majors, many Chinese students do not concentrate on Chinese modern history. The authorities hope to improve this situation by implementing A Brief Introduction to Chinese Modern History as a compulsory subject in the national curriculum.

Recently, China’s Education Ministry and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee have jointly initiated training classes for teachers of the new subject.

Education Minister Zhou Ji indicates that the goal of this change is to help students learn about the historical course of national independence, about the people’s liberation, the prosperity of the country and common prosperity of the people.
