A blast in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region left two soldiers dead and four others injured, a local TV channel DAWN NEWS reported on Thursday, citing officials.
A military convoy in South Waziristan was also attacked and no casualties were reported, the DAWN NEWS report said, adding that several suspects were arrested after the attack.
No more details of the attacks were immediately available.
The security forces bombarded possible hideouts of militants in the northwestern tribal areas on Thursday after one kidnapped soldier was killed by the militants, DAWN NEWS reported.
Pakistani Interior Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that one of the 16 soldiers who were abducted by suspected militants in South Waziristan on Aug. 9 was killed. The militants threatened to kill more unless the government released 10 of their accomplices, local newspapers reported on Wednesday.
Violence in Pakistan's northwestern frontier areas especially in the tribal region escalated since tribal militants scrapped a peace accord with the government in mid-July. Militants intermittently launched attacks on government security forces, leaving hundreds of people dead since early July.
