The White House said Tuesday that the United States will continue to pursue diplomacy in terms of Iran's behavior on Iraq.
"At all times the first position of this government is to pursue diplomacy. And we have pursued it actively and continue to do so with regard to the government of Iran," White House spokesman Tony Snow said at the daily briefing.
However, Snow accused Iran of playing "a deeply non- constructive" role on Iraq.
"Iran has been playing a deeply non-constructive role when it comes to moving EFPs and resources into Iraq to destabilize the government," Snow said.
In addition to the thorny nuclear issue, the Untied States has accused Iran of supporting the insurgents in Iraq to fight against the U.S.-led coalition troops. Iran has denied the charges.
The United States has promised diplomacy on Iran, but stressed it does not exclude any option at the same time.
