An M72 hand grenade was found in a shop near the Government House of Thailand in Bangkok on Friday morning, a police source said.

The hand grenade was found in a noodle shop located at the Nang Loeng Intersection in central Bangkok, not far from the Government House, the source said.

It was reported that several workers, who were renovating the shop, found the grenade wrapped and left on a shelf in the shop.

Police were alerted and rushed to the scene.

The grenade was later defused by the police.
