China Faces More Snow and Rain, Say Forecasters
[ 作者:  加入时间:2008-02-10 20:21:35  来自: ]

The Central Meteorological Station forecasted more rain and snow for most parts of southwest China, with sleet and icy rain for Guizhou Province in the next two to three days.

Heavy snow or even blizzards were expected to come in the next three days in parts of Tibet Autonomous Region, and the provinces of Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan. Sleet and icy rains are possible in most part of southwestern Guizhou.

A strong cold snap will affect north China, resulting in light or moderate snow for the northeastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and central and northern part of Heilongjiang Province in the next two days.

Areas along the middle and lower reached of the Yangtze River will have warmer temperature with sunny or cloudy weather. However, those areas should still take precautions for icy roads because the temperature at night will still fall below zero, meteorologists said.

Prolonged snow, rain and sleet have persisted since mid-January in China's eastern, central and southern regions, and affected 100 million people in 19 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has just lifted the level-three severe weather emergency plan, which was initiated on Jan. 25 in units directly under the CMA and the Meteorological Bureau in 12 provinces.
