Sleet Hits Ice-plagued Southwest China Province
[ 作者:  加入时间:2008-02-10 20:21:54  来自: ]

Ice-stricken Guizhou Province in southwest China received an overnight sleet on Sunday, which once again brought down the temperature and frozen the thawing ice on roads.

The provincial meteorological station forecast that this round of sleet may continue to Monday morning in the central and western parts of the province, exacerbating lingering ice disaster in the region, which had shown signs of thawing for the past few days.

The disaster relief and emergency command center under the State Council said on Saturday that public traffic in snow-hit southern China region has gradually recovered, except some areas of Guizhou Province.

In its daily brief on the progress of disaster relief, the emergency command center said that rail and highway transportation are quite normal throughout the country, except a few counties in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province, where traffic control was imposed on some low-grade roads due to freezing surface.

It reported that transport via railways, expressway and airports in the southern China region remained basically on schedule on Saturday.
