Employees of governmental organizations and public institutions in China will receive triple salary to compensate for giving up annual leave time, based on a regulation issued by the Ministry of Personnel.
The regulation, which that went into effect on February 15th, stipulates that employers should pay three times the ordinary working day salary to working staff that choose to work during their vacation.
The regulation published on the ministry's web site on Thursday says those employed for more than one year, ten years and twenty years are entitled to different lengths of annual leave starting next month.
Days for visiting relatives, celebrating weddings, attending funerals and giving birth are excluded from the annual leave, it says.
In addition, employers are required to consult with the work staff if they are unable to arrange annual leave because of work concerns.
The additional salary for the unconsumed annual leave time should be paid in full during the first quarter of the next year, it adds.
A draft issued in November of last year says all employees of government organizations, civil organizations, enterprises, and public-service institutions are entitled to paid vacation after serving for the same employer for one year, based on a report from the Xinhua News Agency. |
