Chinese film director Yin Li said Monday that the ongoing Rio International Film Festival will boost cooperation between China and Brazil in the film industry.
As Latin America's largest film festival, the 14-day event which began on September 20, has chosen China as its focus country this year, screening a total of 20 Chinese films.
"The China Focus provides an opportunity for dialogue between Brazilian and Chinese film-makers," said Yin, who is presenting his 2006 production "The Knot" at the festival.
Yin is in Rio with a 10-member delegation from China to deliver 12 of China's recent film productions and eight classic Chinese films to the festival.
Yin said there are currently two China-Brazil feature co-productions on course, and the two sides are expected to cooperate more.
"'Central Station,' 'The Motorcycle Diaries' and 'City of God' are some of Brazil's excellent films," said Yin, adding that he cried when he watched "Central Station."
Rio International Film Festival 2007 features a total of 300 films from around the world, which will be shown in tents on Copacabana Beach, in addition to showings at theaters. |
