If you are a musician who wants to perform at the Shanghai Stadium, you have to be really popular -- so much so that you have the power to fill 80,000 seats with fans. That objective was a piece of cake for Taiwan pop king Jay Chou.

On Saturday night, Chou's fans jam-packed the venue, as the singer-songwriter put on a three-hour show that was a feast for both the eyes and ears.

Chou kept his word by presenting the audience with an old-Shanghai flavored affair. Besides a dozen costume changes, he showed off his skill on the piano, guitar and guzheng, a traditional Chinese zither.

Over the night, Chou performed 27 of his hit songs, with genres spanning rock, retro and hip-hop.

The show wrapped up with two encores followed by a boisterous sing-along.

Although his latest album, "Jay Chou on the Run," failed to gain rave reviews from critics, 28-year-old Chou managed to expand his fan base with his directorial debut, "Secret," a high-school romance film starring actress Lunmei Kwai and Chou himself. The film proved to be a big commercial success.
